Wow. What an exciting, prosperous and pleasant summer 2008 has. As we settle into the September, things are continuing to progress quickly here at North Shore at Lake Marion.

Just a few weeks ago, we released the first phase of single-family homesites for purchase in our new Polly's Retreat neighborhood. This first phase includes 17 distinct homesites, averaging one-third an acre in size. Future homeowners, just like condo owners at North Shore, will have the same great access to boating, fishing, hiking and other nature activities. These homesites range in price from $69,900 to $85,000.

Below you'll find a few photos of the Polly's Retreat homesites. These photos display the uniqueness and great views that each parcel holds. We're excited about Polly's Retreat and hope to release the remaining homesites before the end of 2008.

In the meantime, I hope you continue to visit our site for the latest information on what we think is the greatest development in the Midlands. pollysretreat1 (Large).JPG pollysretreat2 (Large).JPG

There have been several advancements at North Shore at Lake Marion since I last posted. We’ve started sales of our lakefront condominiums, opened our new sales center and held a ribbon cutting event to celebrate all of the positive momentum we’re experiencing.

Now is a thrilling time in the growth and development of North Shore as a premiere waterfront community in the Southeast. In addition to the advancements listed above, we’ve also come a long way in the aesthetics and curb appeal of the community.

All landscaping and sod have been planted and everything is in full bloom; grading work has been completed for the lakefront shoreline; we’ve started site work on our single-family homesites; and we have completed our main entrance to the community.

We have many more exciting announcements that I’ll be sharing with you in the weeks and months to come. In the meantime, below you’ll find a couple of photos from the ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration we recently hosted. The first picture includes The Shuler Group staff and the second includes Shuler Group staff and Santee and Summerton area dignitaries.

Hello and welcome to the North Shore at Lake Marion blog. As we move forward with the development of our new community, we will use this forum to share with you what this new waterfront haven will mean to our residents, the community surrounding us and the natural habitat on which we’re located.

North Shore at Lake Marion is being developed by The Shuler Group, which is led by me, Hubert Shuler, III. Our group is is a full-service real estate development and venture management firm based in Orangeburg, S.C. As a creative South Carolina developer/builder, we work with leading designers and consultants in an effort to offer elegant, contemporary development projects for resort and casual living. Our flagship projects across the state, in addition to North Shore at Lake Marion, include Ballards Pointe Resort and Marina and The Village at The Resort, both located in Santee, S.C. We currently have more than 250 multi-family units, either recently completed, under construction or in the planning stages.

As a planner, designer and developer, I personally have more than 20 years experience in the real estate industry. Over the course of this time, I’ve been closely involved with numerous resort and specialty projects throughout the Carolinas and Georgia. In addition, I have also been involved in the construction of more than 80 custom homes and have provided project management and contract administration services for many commercial and retail clients, including Patten Seed Company and Canongate Golf Clubs in Atlanta.

But more important than my experience in real estate development is my connection to the Santee and Orangeburg areas. I am a life-long resident of the area and my family still calls the Midlands our home. Therefore, I have a vested interest the area’s growth and vitality for generations to come.

North Shore is being designed around providing a leisurely, waterfront lifestyle for future homeowners, all the while providing access to local nature areas, water accesses and being just a short drive from places such as Charleston, Charlotte and Atlanta.

There are several attributes that will set North Shore at Lake Marion apart from other communities in the Santee/Orangeburg area. We will be sharing these with you via this blog over the next several months as we move forward with planning your new homestead at North Shore at Lake Marion.
